Location
The Von Ried Port Tract is located in northeastern North Carolina, near the small towns of Winton and Cofield.
Site Information
- Partially within The Nature Conservancy (TNC) Chowan Sand Ride/Blackwater River Portfolio-Acquisition Area
- Within identified wetland restoration program area
- The tract adjoins the western bank of the Chowan River. The 745-acre Chowan Swamp Wildlife Resource Commission Game Land Area is on the eastern side of the river
- North Carolina’s Division of Coastal Management identified wetland restoration (0.1 acres) and enhancement (44.8 acres) potential
- One of the few wetlands mitigation projects for restoration, enhancement or preservation in the area
