Location
The Beaver Dam site is located in southeastern North Carolina, approximately 10-15 miles north of the coastal communities, Holden Beach and Carolina Shores. The small town of Shallotte is 4 miles south.

- Partially within The Nature Conservancy Southeastern Brunswick County Portfolio-Acquisition area
- Approximately 5 miles southwest of the Nature Conservancy's Green Swamp Preserve (900 acres)
- North Carolina's Division of Coastal Management identified wetland restoration (6.5 acres) and enhancement (308.76 acres) potential
- One of the few wetlands mitigation projects for restoration, enhancement or preservation in the area
